Friday - The Rathole

There was a concrete mixer at the Washmon-Pipes well site just after noon today.







Then a backhoe dug a deep hole at the center of the pad site and dropped in a vertical section of culvert.







The hole drilling machine drilled a deep hole in the center of this metal ring and dropped in about 40 or 50 feet of heavy gauge well casing.










Next the concrete truck dumped his load into the outer ring around the well casing.







Here is the finished product with two ratholes visible just beyond the main well center. The rathole provides a place to store the drilling stem when it is not being used.






This contractor was headquartered in Abilene.








Two tankers dumped their loads of water into the pit at the water well site.







At the lake today the men did some surveying and then quit early to wait for rain that is forecast for tonight.
